Christian Jones is now pursuing a PHD at the Freie Universität Berlin where he will extend the field of his studies to more recent developments in the same region of the world.
As indicated in our recent letter, several students had written excellent thesis and could have deserved our price. Our committee was impressed by its analysis of the tensions between the two attractions of nationalism and cosmopolitanism there and then, and by its reflection on such divided loyalties. Such situations can be observed in other times and locations when important civilizations interconnect.
